Q: How long have you have been an actress?

I’ve loved singing and dancing since I was little. I attended my first Broadway show – Mary Poppins – when I was only 2 and I loved it! But I have only been doing this professionally for about 2 ½ years. I actually had really bad stage fright when I first started, and my mom thought it would be a good way for me to try and overcome my shyness.

Q: What made you want to be an actress?

I always loved playing make-believe and dress-up and I loved when we used to always make up our own productions when we were little. A few years ago, we both auditioned for Annie Warbucks at the Westchester Sandbox Theater here in Mamaroneck. That was the first time I was ever really on stage, and I loved it so much.

Q: What do you like most about acting?

I like creating new characters and in the case of live theater, I love be able to hear the audience react. It can be very challenging to play somebody else, especially if they are so different from who I am, but that is what makes it fun! Also, I have gotten the chance to meet so many amazing people who have accomplished so much over their careers. It is so exciting to work with actors who I have actually grown up watching on TV and in movies and getting a chance to meet them in person! I have been able to learn so much from them. For example, my TV mom Maura Tierney is such a great actress and has been an awesome teacher. You can’t help but learn from her – she is such an amazing actress!

Q: What was your favorite acting job?

I have loved all my jobs. A Christmas Story Live allowed me to sing, dance, and act, and I also got to work with a large group of kids, it was like a big playground! But on the Affair, I am able to play the same character over time. As I grow up, she grows up – plus they give me the best clothes to wear!

Q: Could you tell us some behind the scenes information about A Christmas Story Live?

The show was filmed at the Warner Brothers Studio, so it was so amazing to see how they were able to recreate an entire town at Christmas time while in Burbank, California! They even brought in real snow! The school that we filmed in was actually the same school that they had used in Gilmore Girls.

Q: Is it hard to balance acting and being a regular kid?

It can be very hard because I am still expected to keep up with all my school work. While on set, we have to do a certain number of hours of school before we are allowed to rehearse and you have to keep very good grades. But it is a lot harder to keep up without being able to work with regular teachers. I also really miss my friends and classmates, but I appreciate that this is just a real incredible experience.

Q: Aside from acting, what other things do you like to do?

I love to read Archie comics, hula hoops, drawing and listening to my favorite songs. I really love to cook. I also just started to take hip hop. Over the Christmas break, my family went to Disneyland and it was the best trip of my life! I loved going on all the rides, but most of all, I loved spending the time with my whole family together again.
